Research Areas
The RELAB Group conducts applied research on heating and cooling from renewable energy sources at both building and district level. Activities include the experimental characterization of heating and cooling system prototypes, numerical modelling of heat and mass transfer, dynamic simulations of energy systems for buildings, and energy planning for district heating and cooling networks.
At a broader scale, from the local to the national level, the research group supports policymakers in preparing the transition towards a future clean and sustainable energy infrastructure through energy scenario modelling. RELAB’s expertise in renewable energy and energy efficiency also extends to the life cycle assessment of products (goods and services) and organizations, with the aim of supporting companies and public authorities in understanding and improving their environmental sustainability profile.
